Holiday with family and friends and make memories forever.

The accommodation comprises a large Manor House with a large kitchen and sitting room, with room enough for 18 guests. The Manor House has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, while the adjoining Gite has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Manor provides space for everyone to spend time together, whilst the three bedrooms in the Gite mean that perhaps the older generation, or family with a baby, has space to escape, should they wish.

There is a private heated saltwater pool, 10 x 5 meters.

Doumailhac is located in an unspoilt region of rolling wooded countryside interspersed with numerous rivers and lakes, perfect for relaxing holidays. This beautiful area has been designated a Regional Park, consequently all you will usually hear is birdsong, yet you are only a few minutes’ walk from a restaurant/bar.

Should the children ever tire of the pool there is a chance to experience horse/pony riding just a five minute drive away, local lakes offer beach, water sports and supervised swimming areas.

The area is full of fascinating history, ancient cities, market towns and wonderful restaurants.

Tranquillity, Comfort and a Degree of Magnificence

Le Manoir, known locally as “le petit chateau,” is in the small hamlet of Doumailhac, nestling just a kilometre from the village of La Chapelle Montbrandiex, in the centre of the Périgord-Vert Natural Park.

Outside, the rear terrace offers views across the garden and adjoining countryside, a lovely outdoor space on which to dine/barbecue or enjoy a glass watching the sunsets. In the evening enjoy stargazing, the lack of light pollution means the Milky Way is often visible. Beyond the large rear garden is the walled/fenced pool with sun loungers.

The large heated salt water swimming pool, which is open in June, July, August and September-depending on the weather, provides the perfect place to relax. In the heat of the summer float on the pool with a cool drink and listen to the birds singing. There are sun loungers available to accommodate all the guests.

In the barn there is a table tennis table, badmington and darts, as well as a selection of bikes for guests to use, explore the area, discover the wildlife and birds or try your hand at fishing.

Relaxing in the Perigord Vert

Doumailhac is a small hamlet in the village of La Chapelle Montbrandeix

Interesting Chateaux and a range of cultural activities are nearby with the larger centres of Limoges, Perigueux and Angouleme all within an hour’s drive.

There is an excellent choice of local restaurants to suit every budget – Chez Jules, just a walk away and La Cloche at Abjat-sur-Bandiat, a short drive away and the renown “Hostellerie St Jacques”, for a gourmet’s feast, at St Saud Lacoussière, to mention a few. The nearby towns of Rochechouart and Nontron also host excellent restaurants and are enjoyable venues for a long lunch.

The weekly market in Piégut-Pluviers is well worth a morning visit, with options for a spot of coffee and people watching.

At the bottom of the large garden is the “Circuit du Loup Garou”, a walking, cycling, riding route. Fishing and horse riding are also available locally. http://www.tourisme-hautevienne.com/activites-de-plein-air/activites-terrestres/sentiers-de-randonnee/circuit-du-loup-garou-1165

We are also only 7km from Cussac with its large supermarket/ chemist and boulangerie.

Plan of the properties

It all started when…

We have holidayed in France since before our youngest was born and always loved it. When the opportunity came to buy our own property, we jumped at it and have never regretted it. We live and work in the UK, but spend as much time in France as we can.

We wanted to be able to reach the house in a days drive from the UK, but wanted to be far enough south to reach some sunny weather. We are also well served by flights into Limoges Airport-from Easyjet and Ryanair.
